Joshua Ball
Joshua L. Ball oversees the Eastern Kentucky Distance Earning Initiative, an exciting partnership between four community and technical colleges and the Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program, Inc. The program serves rural Kentucky and aims to use the state’s vast digital infrastructure as an economic development tool to create the workforce of tomorrow…today.
Ball is a former journalist, newspaper executive, and healthcare public relations and marketing executive, and received national attention in 2006 when he covered the Aracoma coal mining accident. His work appeared on CNN among other national publications. He has served as a contract photographer for the Associated Press and has won more than 30 press association awards.
Still a journalist, Ball writes a weekly sports column for the Ashland (Ky.) Daily Independent. He is also co-owner of Peace of Mind Therapeutic Services, LLC, a private psychotherapy practice he opened with his wife, Tammy, in January, and President of the Ronnie Smith Foundation, a group dedicated to empowering the youth of Eastern Kentucky through positive mentorship.
